President Obama Event July 24th – Lunch at the Portland Art Museum

President Barack Obama will visit Portland on Tuesday, July 24th. Two events will give the chance for Portland supporters to contribute to the reelection of the President. The main event is lunch with the President at the Portland Art Museum. The other event is an intimate brunch limited to 25 people.

Voting for the President is important but in an election year where a sitting President will be outspent for the first time ever by his opponent it is crucial that Barack Obama’s supporters help him out financially as well. Your donation will help secure President Obama’s reelection so he can continue to enact the agenda of change for our country that he started four years ago.

The main event: luncheon with President Obama at the  Portland Art Museum at 12pm.

Tickets are donations to the President’s reelection campaign and are as follows:

$500 – Standing Lunch Reception

$1,000 – Private seated VIP Lunch Reception; Premier Seating in the Grand Ballroom

$5,000 – Photo with President Obama – $1,000 more for each additional person in the photo; Private seated VIP Lunch Reception; Premier Seating in the Grand Ballroom

In March 2011, the Victory Fund celebrated 20 years of electing LGBT candidates. On the anniversary the founding pioneers including Terry Bean and Vic Basile and a new generation of LGBT advocates gathered together in Washington, D.C. to celebrate. David Mixner’s post Victory Fund Celebrates 20 Years Of Electing LGBT Candidates tells the story behind the founding of the Victory Fund, the foundation’s success and how you can contribute to the future:

“Twenty years ago in a Marriott Hotel conference room in Virginia sat over a dozen leaders from various organizations and states to explore how we could better elect openly LGBT candidates. Called together by Terry Bean, William Waybourn, Vic Basile and others, they had this concept of modeling an organization after Ellen Malcolm’s “Emily’s List.” The idea was a simple one. To raise awareness and money – especially money – to create an even playing field for our candidates. At that point we had a little more than forty openly LGBT elected and appointed officials in the entire nation. Continue reading

ACLU OF OREGON FOUNDATION

The ACLU of Oregon Foundation’s annual “Liberty Dinner” brought 350 people to the Portland Hilton & Executive Tower on March 10. Featured speaker was Dan Savage, known for creating the “It Gets Better” project on YouTube. Fred Neal was event chairman. Doris Ennis was honored with the Charles F. Hinkle Award for Distinguished Service in recognition of her 38 years of volunteer service. The event raised more than $100,000. The ACLU of Oregon is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of civil liberties and civil rights. Oregonian Published: Saturday, April 07, 2012
